About

We are about doing things. Worthwhile things that enrich our lives, embolden our spirits and draw us closer to those who surround us. We live in central Victoria and love this part of the world for reasons that will become evident over the life of this blog.

Mastery and flawlessness are always revered. It's exquisite to see an expert in any field- and how divine must be the feeling when you are the expert yourself? Surely it's transcendent; to complete a task with such finesse that a spectator might be brought to tears, to goosebumps, to speechlessness?

And how sad then, that the non-expert be denied this (what surely must feel like) transcendence. Perhaps the less skilled are less deserving? To be an expert it takes grit, sacrifice, dedication. To be a non-expert takes, well, very little. A bit of effort, maybe a good attitude?

It's a bit anti-establishment to do something adequately. To just get the job done. To appreciate the process and the functionality of the product, rather than the perfection of the thing. Not to take anything away from the experts of the world, but we should probably celebrate the importance, indeed the necessity, of the job done well enough.

We want to do that. Gather skills that will get us through. Try often. Fail often. Learn. Leave perfectionism at the door, and just get amongst it. As G. K. Chesterton said, 'if a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly'.

Enjoy.

Love Leanne and Jess
